The Holidays are in full swing, and with it, our Christmas celebration to-do list:

Drink all the hot cocoa
Finish up Christmas shopping (‘oy, how is it already a week before Christmas?!)
Mail those Christmas cards
Listen to our Christmas playlist (on nonstop, basically)
Basically, WE LOVE CHRISTMAS and with it, all the delicious flavors of the holiday season! In honor of this festive time of year, we’ve rounded up a few healthy-for-you recipes that will leave your taste buds and your bod feeling merry and bright, not icky and sluggish.
Summer seems to be the Season of the Salad, but why when winter salads are seriously just as delicious?! We love the holiday flavor of cranberry in this recipe from Peas and Crayons, and the quinoa makes it a filling meal, not like your average Romaine salad that leaves you hungry approximately 5 minutes after finishing it. If you’ve reached your sugar max for the day, substitute regular walnuts for the candied ones to forego that extra sugar and butter.
Nothing says a winter dish quite like the orange hues of squash added in. Compared to the sweet potato, squash is lower in calories, carbs, and sugars (though no hate on the sweet potatoes, as they are high in fiber and protein!). This recipe for easy garlic herb butternut squash from Healthy Seasonal Recipes looks mouthwatering—add it to your holiday side dish list!
The Christmas season is peppermint’s time to step out from the shadows and into the flavor spotlight. We’re partial to all things with a peppermint twist: peppermint mocha, peppermint hot chocolate, peppermint bark… yes, please. But all our favorite peppermint treats are loaded with sugar, so we have to limit our indulgences. That’s why we love this recipe from Running In A Skirt: no added sugar (thank you, dates… have you seen the nutritional benefits of these?!), no oven required, and with our favorite peppermint flavor on board. YUM.
Gingerbread: the other Christmas taste requirement besides peppermint. The sweetness from this recipe from Hummusapien comes naturally from maple syrup and molasses rather than refined sugar—always a win! And to our gluten free babes, this dessert is for you!
Um, CAN WE TRY THEM ALL?! Enough said. Check out these 11 cocktail recipes from Women's Health Magazine.
