If you read last week’s blog post (wait, you haven’t read it? Get on it, then!), then you know that the coming of fall isn’t just a simple change of season, it’s a downright celebration: the fall candles are lit, the pumpkin goodies are baked, plaid and plush sweaters become practically our uniform, and the PSL becomes our morning staple… look, we don’t play games when it comes to our deep love for fall.
And since we are proud to call Dallas home, we are sharing with you 7 fun fall Dallas events that scream HEY LOOK IT’S FALL NOW. So pull out your calendar and mark these fun fall Dallas events in your fall must-dos!
1. October 5 - 7: Southlake Oktoberfest
Four words: Beer. Wiener dog races. ‘Nuff said. (Or… should we say… ‘ruff said. Get it?!) The best part: admission is completely free! Over 100,000 visitors regularly attend this annual festival in Southlake Town Square. Sounds like you should go ahead and be included in that visitor count!
2. October 6: Texas Vs. OU Watch Party
Can’t spell “football” without “fall” (okay, we realize that one was a stretch, but roll with it…): Cheer on your fave team in the Red River Rivalry at Texas Ale Project’s Texas Vs. OU watch party. Enjoy delicious brews, games, and more with your ticket!
3. September 28 - October 21: State Fair of Texas
Fall in Dallas is synonymous with the State Fair of Texas!
Butter sculptures… cotton candy… a WINE GARDEN (stopping now, that’s all we have to say). For budget-conscious guys and gals, plan to hit up the fair on Thrifty Thursdays, where you can find discounts on some favorite fair classics and signature vendor fares. NOM.
The theme for this year is “Celebrating Texas Innovation” and like any proud Texan, that’s something we can get behind.
4. September 30 - October 31: Hall’s Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze
A pumpkin patch is a mandatory fall activity, with or without kids. Couple that with the fun of trying to make your way out of a maze of maize (sorry y’all, we’re on FIRE with the puns today), and you have a fun fall afternoon ahead!
Check out Hall’s Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze in Grapevine, where you can pick up some pumpkins for your porch, make your way through the corn maze, and hitch a hayride!
5. September 27 - October 25: Cool Thursdays Concert Series at Dallas Arboretum
We love that fall means finally cool Thursdays (and cool Sundays and Mondays, and Tuesdays, and…). Couple the cooler weather with some local tunes at the beautiful Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens as the sun sets, and you’ve got the perfect fall evening. Grab your tickets quickly, though—this Thursday is already sold out!
6. September 29 - November 3: Cutting Edge Haunted House
For those of you who consider it fun to be scared out of your absolute mind, then Cutting Edge Haunted House is the place for you. Located in a creepy abandoned meat packing plant in Fort Worth, this haunted house was named the world’s largest haunted attraction in the 2015 Guinness World Records. Sounds like our personal nightmare... you guys go on and have fun, we’ll stick with the pumpkin patches.
7. Mid-September - October: Apple Picking at Henrietta Creek Orchards
DID YOU KNOW you can go apple picking in the DFW metroplex?! We come bearing good news: you can absolutely participate in this fall activity staple by taking a visit to Henrietta Creek Orchards! Don’t mind us, we’re just throwing on our favorite cozy fall sweater and boots and heading out for an afternoon of apple-picking with the fam.
